CASTAIC LAKE WATER AGENCY SELECTS INNOVYZE SCADAWATCH

Innovyze today announced that Castaic Lake Water Agency (CLWA), California, has chosen the company’s SCADAWatch software solution to support mission-critical network modeling applications, supplement system performance monitoring in real time, gain insight and drive operational improvements. The implementation also boosts the Agency’s real-time business intelligence, enabling it to instantly determine water and energy usage and monitor everything from uptime to analytics. SCADAWatch allows users to access timely information by consolidating data from different platforms, providing a faster, cleaner window into real-time data. This expands the pool of employees who can easily access valuable observed data on any desktop.

The Castaic Lake Water Agency (CLWA) is the Santa Clarita Valley’s public water wholesaler. As one of 29 State Water Project contractors, it receives water imported from northern California and Kern County through the California Aqueduct. CLWA operates three large treatment plants, three major pump stations, three water storage facilities and over 45 miles of large diameter transmission pipelines delivering water to four local water retailers.

SCADAWatch allows CLWA to better leverage and consolidate their hydraulic and water quality modeling, GIS and SCADA into one powerful business software application ? allowing information flows that are faster, analytically optimized and actionable. Users can instantly create, view and interactively analyze presentation-quality reports on a real-time, information-rich business dashboard fully customized to their needs, getting an at-a-glance perspective of system performance.

The dashboards enable operators to save time and monitor everything from uptime to analytics 24/7, gain high visibility of past asset performance for historical comparison, access timely information to make better decisions, share that information across all water utility functions and departments, react faster to important events and identify opportunities to drive operational efficiencies as they happen. Overall performance of all critical assets can be displayed both in real time and on a periodic basis (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or year-to-year overview). These capabilities automate and help optimize business performance, reduce operational costs and risk, and improve business responsiveness. The software also automatically generates detailed, high-fidelity performance reports and assists staff members in determining the best course of action based on specific performance objectives.

“SCADAWatch consolidates operational system distribution data on a single comprehensive dashboard, giving us faster real-time visualization of our water system performance,” said Jason Yim, P.E., Principal Engineer for CLWA. “It allows us to receive real-time warnings of network performance problems; gauge loss of system hydraulics, water quality and physical integrity; spot other operational conditions; understand the impact of various actions; and gain insight and drive operational improvements.”

“By choosing SCADAWatch, the state of the art in our industry, CLWA has demonstrated its commitment to leveraging cutting edge technology to best serve its customers,” said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D., BCEEM, Hon.D.WRE, Dist.D.NE, Dist.M.ASCE, NAE, President, COO and Chief Innovation Officer of Innovyze. “The software provides CLWA with an actionable “intelligence X-ray” that helps them continuously monitor their water systems’ vital signs, spot patterns and deficiencies, act quickly and proactively, plan ahead, optimize operations and water management strategies, and improve efficiency measures and customer service. It is the ultimate decision support tool for achieving optimal results. Innovyze is very proud to continue to partner in CLWA’s success.”
