[미국] 나이아가라 폭포 폐수 방출 사건 조사 추진

시애틀 타임즈에 따르면 나이아가라 폭포 아래 냄새나는 폐수를 방출한 데 책임이 있는 국공립기관은 이 사건을 평가하기 위해 엔지니어링 회사를 고용했다고 밝혔다. 

발표된 성명서에서 나이아가라 폭포수위원회는 지난 7월 29일 폐수처리장에서 폐수의 방출을 초래한 세부사항을 분석하기 위해 AECOM을 고용했다고 발표했다. 기관은 방출이 ‘일상적인’ 유지의 일환이며 걱정할 이유가 없다고 주장한다.

나이아가라 국회의원들이 범죄 수사를 추진하는 동안 현재 주의 공무원들은 사건을 조사하고 있다.

WATER AGENCY HIRES FIRM TO EVALUATE NIAGARA FALLS DISCHARGE

The public agency responsible for discharging black, smelly water below Niagara Falls says it's hired an engineering firm to evaluate the incident, according to the Seattle Times.

In a statement released this week, the Niagara Falls Water Board said it has hired AECOM to analyze details leading to the July 29 discharge of black water from its wastewater plant. The agency maintains that the discharge was part of "routine" maintenance and should be no cause for concern.

State officials are currently investigating the events, while Niagara County lawmakers are pursuing a criminal investigation.
