[이집트] FCC·오라스콤, 카이로 하수 재이용 프로젝트 따내

FCC 아쿠알리아(FCC Aqualia)와 오라스콤(Orascom)이 이집트 카이로(Cairo)에 하수 재이용 플랜트를 설계·건설·운영하기 위해 3억 2천만 달러의 계약을 체결했다.

이에 따라 설치되는 카이로 서쪽 아부 라와슈(Abu Rawash) 하수처리 플랜트는 식수 생산을 위해 1·2차 처리를 통해 하루 160만㎥의 하수를 처리하게 된다. 설치가 완료되면 600만 명의 사람들에게 식수를 제공할 수 있다.

이번 프로젝트에서는 기존의 1차 처리 플랜트의 용량이 120만㎥/일에서 160만㎥/일로 확대되고 공정에 생물학적 처리가 추가된다. 시공은 약 37개월 소요될 전망이다. 

이 프로젝트는 원래 20년간의 계약으로 예상됐으나, 이집트의 경제 상황을 고려하여 3년으로 단축됐다. 스페인 건설사인 FCC Construccion이 프로젝트의 납품을 주도하고, 아프리카 개발 은행(African Development Bank)이 자금을 지원한다.

이 프로젝트는 FCC 아쿠알리아가 자국인 스페인 외에서 체결한 가장 큰 계약이다.

지난 2016년 FCC 아쿠알리아는 이집트 엘 알라메인(El Alamein)에 15만㎥/일 규모의 담수화 플랜트 건설 계약을 체결한 바 있다.

FCC Aqualia and Orascom win $320 million Cairo reuse project

FCC Aqualia and Orascom have won a $320 million contract to design, build and operate a wastewater reuse plant in Cairo, Egypt.

Abu Rawash wastewater treatment plant will process 1.6 million m3/d of wastewater through primary and secondary treatment to produce potable water. Once complete, it will serve six million people.

The scope of work includes expanding the existing primary treatment plant from 1.2 to 1.6 million m3/d, and adding biological treatment. Construction is expected to take 37 months.

The project was originally conceived as a 20-year concession, but has been reduced to three years owing to Egypt’s economic situation.

FCC Construccion is leading the delivery of the project, and African Development Bank is financing. 

It is the largest contract of its type that FCC Aqualia has signed outside of Spain.

In 2016, FCC Aqualia won a contract to build a 150,000 m3/d desalination plant at El Alamein in Egypt.
