[영국] 펜테어, 에퀴온·펠리칸 워터 시스템즈 인수
영국의 펜테어(Pentair plc)는 미국의 수처리 장비업체인 에큐언(Aquion) 및 펠리칸 워터 시스템즈(Pelican Water Systems)을 인수하기 위한 최종 계약을 체결했다.
주류 및 상업용 수처리 산업을 위해 워터 컨디셔너, 정수기, 음용수 정수기, 오존 및 자외선 살균 시스템, 역삼 투 시스템 및 산성 중화제를 제공하는 메이슨 웰스가 과반수를 차지하고있는 에큐언(Aquion)이 있다.
상업 브랜드에는 OptiPure 및 ClearWater Tech가 포함되어 있지만 주거용 브랜드에는 RainSoft 및 Erie Water Treatment가 포함된다. Aquion은 약 170명의 직원을 두고 있으며 약 2만 개의 매출을 약 7천200만 달러에 달한다.
Trivest Partners가 과반수인 Pelican Water Systems는 주거용 가정용 정수 시스템을 제공한다. 환경친화적인 물 여과 및 연화 시스템을 생산한다는 목표로 2007년에 설립된 Pelican Water Systems는 플로리다주 드랜드(DeLand)에 본사를 두고 79명을 고용하고 있다. 회사는 약 3천800만 달러의 매출을 예상하고 있다.
Pentair는 Aquion에 1억6천만 달러, Pelican Water Systems에 1억 2천만 달러를 지불한다. Aquion을 인수하면 Pentair가 계열사 네트워크에 액세스할 수 있게 된다.
Pentair의 사장 겸 CEO인 존 스타우치(John Stauch)는 Aquair 인수에 대해 "이 계획된 인수는 Aquion의 제휴 딜러 네트워크를 통해 턴키방식의 수자원 조절 솔루션을 제공함으로써 주거용 소비자와 더 가까워지는 전략의 중요한 구성 요소”라면서 “Aquantic의 강력한 주거 및 상업용 수 시스템 포트폴리오는 Pentair의 수처리 기술 전문 기술과 결합하여 주거용 및 상업용 수처리 분야에서 범위와 고객을 확대할 수 있게 해줄 것이다"라고 강조했다.
Aquion 사장 겸 CEO인 미첼 마드센(Michael Madsen)은 "Aquion은 Pentair에 가입하게 된 것을 기쁘게 생각한다"라면서 "이것은 Aquion이 주거 및 상업 산업 모두에서 물을 더 부드럽고 경제적으로 사용하고 소비할 수 있는 솔루션을 만드는 조직 내에서 강점을 쌓을 수 있게 해줄 것이다"라고 강조했다.
Pelican Water Systems 인수로 Pentair의 가정용 수처리 사업도 확장될 것으로 예상된다.

펜테어(Pentair)의 에큐언(Aquion) 및 펠리칸 워터 시스템즈(Pelican Water Systems)는 통상적인 종결 조건 및 필요한 규제 승인에 따라 2019년 1분기에 완료될 것으로 예상된다.

Pentair to acquire Aquion and Pelican Water Systems
Pentair plc has entered into definitive agreements to acquire US water treatment equipment companies Aquion and Pelican Water Systems.
Aquion, majority owned by Mason Wells and headquartered outside Chicago, offers water conditioners, water filters, drinking-water purifiers, ozone and ultraviolet disinfection systems, reverse osmosis systems and acid neutralizers for the residential and commercial water treatment industry. Residential brands include RainSoft and Erie Water Treatment, while commercial brands include OptiPure and ClearWater Tech. Aquion has around 170 employees and is projecting 2018 revenues of approximately US$72 million.
Pelican Water Systems, which is majority owned by Trivest Partners, provides residential whole home water treatment systems. Founded in 2007 with the goal of producing environmentally friendly water filtration and softening systems, Pelican Water Systems is headquartered in DeLand, Florida and employs 79 people. The company is forecasting 2018 sales of around US$38 million.
Pentair will pay US$160 million in cash for Aquion and US$120 million for Pelican Water Systems. The acquisition of Aquion will give Pentair access to its affiliated dealer network.
Commenting on the Aquion acquisition, John Stauch, Pentair president and CEO, said: “This planned acquisition is a significant component of our strategy to be closer to the residential consumer by allowing us to offer turnkey water conditioning solutions through Aquion’s network of affiliated dealers. Aquion’s strong portfolio of residential and commercial water systems, combined with Pentair’s technical expertise in water treatment technologies, will position us to expand our scope and customer offerings in the residential and commercial water treatment arena.”
“Aquion is pleased to join Pentair,” said Michael Madsen, Aquion president and CEO. “This will allow Aquion to build on its strengths within an organization that is also committed to creating solutions that make water softer and more economical to use and consume across both the residential and commercial industries.”
The acquisition of Pelican Water Systems will also expand Pentair’s Residential Water Treatment Business.
“This planned acquisition is one of the key elements of our strategy to expand our core water treatment products in the residential home water business,” said Pentair’s Stauch. “Consumers today are increasingly concerned about water quality and want to be empowered to improve the health of their water. Pelican Water Systems adds new and complementary products and services to the Pentair portfolio to better meet our consumers’ residential water needs.”
“Pelican Water Systems is excited to become part of Pentair and help collectively address the growing water concerns of residential consumers,” said Iain J Whyte, Pelican Water Systems CEO. “Pentair will significantly expand our reach geographically as well as further our aligned missions to ensure the health of the world through cleaner water.”
Both acquisitions are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2019, subject to customary closing conditions and necessary regulatory approvals.
