[인도] 아로셀로미탈, 브라질서 담수화 플랜트 수주 예정 

인도의 세계 최대의 철강업체인 아로셀로미탈(ArcelorMittal)이 브라질에서 담수화 플랜트를 건설할 회사로 임명될 예정이라고 로이터(Reuters) 통신이 보도했다.

새로운 담수화 공장은 브라질 남동부에 있는 이스피리투 산투(Espirito Santo)주에 위치할 것으로 에상된다.

아로셀로미탈(ArcelorMittal)은 미래의 물 부족에 대한 우려로 주정부 물 유틸리티 세잔(Cesan)에 대한 의존도를 줄이기를 원하고 있다. 

이스피리투 산투(Espirito Santo) 유틸리티는 아로셀로미탈에 2015년 물 위기 상황에서 소비를 30% 줄이기 위해 요청했다.

이 결정은 2019년 2월에 BRL 5천만 달러 (1천320만 달러) 상당의 계약을 체결할 예정이다.  인도, 스페인, 미국에서 온 회사들이 그 후보자들 중 하나이다.

새로운 담수화 플랜트는 처음에 용량 1만2천㎥/일의 모듈식 역삼투 설비와 확장 옵션이 될 것이다. 생산된 전기는 제철소에서 공급한다. 완공일은 2021년이다.

ArcelorMittal 브라질의 플랫 스틸공장 운영 사장인 조르제 리베이로(Jorge Ribeiro)는 로이터통신과의 인터뷰에서 "우리가 하고 있는 것은 또 다른 배급 행사가 있을 경우 대응할 수 있도록 하는 보험이다"라고 강조했다.

ArcelorMittal to award desal project in Brazil

Steelmaker ArcelorMittal is close to appointing a firm to build a desalination plant at its operation in Brazil, reports Reuters.

The new desalination plant will be located in Espirito Santo state in southeastern Brazil

The company wants to reduce its reliance on state water utility Cesan amid concerns about future water shortages. The Espirito Santo utility told ArcelorMittal to reduce consumption by 30 percent during a water crisis in 2015.

The decision will be made in February 2019 to award the contract that is worth BRL 50 million ($13.2 million). Firms from India, Spain and the US are among those in the running.

The new plant will be a modular reverse osmosis facility with capacity of 12,000 m3/d initially and the option to expand. It will consume electricity produced by the steel mill. The completion date is slated for 2021.

“What we are doing is insurance so that if there is another rationing event we can respond,” ArcelorMittal’s president of flat steel operations in Brazil Jorge Ribeiro told Reuters.
