[영국] 영국 10개 물기업 오만에서 수자원 기회 모색
오만 에너지 및 수자원 회의(Oman Energy & Water Conference)에 참석한 10개 영국 물기업 대표단이 이 행사를 성공적으로 개최했다고 밝혔다.
지난 4월 무스카트에서 열린 이 무역 방문은 인텍 엑스포트 인텔리젼스(Intec Export Intelligence)와 브리티시 워터(British Water)가 주최했으며, 참가자들은 영국 정부 국제 무역부(DIT)의 보조금을 받을 자격이 있었다.
오만은 2015∼2040년과 2015년∼2045년 사이의 하·폐수에 대한 15억5천800만 달러의 깨끗한 물에 6억5천만 달러의 자본 지출을 예상하여 수자원 및 하·폐수 인프라를 확장 및 업그레이드하고 있다.
오만의 물 수요는 인구증가 및 관광산업에 의해 주도되고 있다. 2021년까지 연간 7%의 비율로 상승할 것으로 예상된다.
오만의 국립 수자원 마스터플랜은 기존 인프라의 갱신과 함께 녹지 지역을 지원하는 새로운 네트워크로 수도 그리드를 확장하는 것을 포함한다. 많은 담수화 프로젝트와 함께, 자원 구조 조정 프로그램은 고도의 위생처리 범위와 함께 보충 수자원을 제공하기 위해 사용되는 고급 하·폐수 처리를 볼 수 있다.
하·폐수 마스터플랜은 공장 건설에 대한 공공-민간 파트너십을 찾고 처리된 물과 비료의 판매로 인한 수입 흐름에 기반을 두고 있다. 정부는 2020년까지 무스카트 거주자의 80%를 하수도 네트워크에 연결하는 것을 목표로 삼고 현재 30%에 이른다.

영국 수상의 카롤리나 페레(Karolina Peret) 국제 매니저는 "영국의 워터 회원들은 오만이 기회를 발굴하고 물과 하·폐수 기반 시설로 들어가는 막대한 투자가 다양한 회사에 중요한 기회가된다는 사실을 깨닫고 있다. 오만은 하·폐수 처리 및 재사용, 담수화, 관개, 수질 및 계량에 대한 세계적 전문 지식과 장비를 요구하고 있다"고 말했다.
Intec Export Intelligence의 가이 로저스(Gy Rogers)는 "오만은 영국 제품의 수출 시장 중 가장 빠르게 성장하고 있으며 물 분야의 영국 기업에 많은 기회를 제공한다. 올해 파빌리온의 참가자들은 제품 및 서비스에 대한 탁월한 관심을 보고했으며 이 행사의 비즈니스 리드는 이미 가치있는 계약으로 변모했다"랃고 말했다.
가이 로저스(Gy Rogers)는 이어 "오만은 부유하고 안전한 나라이며 영국과의 관계에 큰 가치를 두고 있다. 우리는 앞으로의 성공을 위해 이 건물을 건설하기를 기대하며 브리티시 워터의 더 많은 기업들이 베트남에서 개최될 이번 행사에 우리와 함께 할 수 있기를 바란다"고 말했다.

데이브 워너(CSG Valves) 전무이사는 "우리가 영국의 물 분야를 오만에서 소개한 것은 이번이 세 번째이며 이미 여러 차례 명령을 내렸다는 것을 기쁘게 생각한다. 우리는 전시회에서 확인한 6명의 잠재적 유통 업체와도 협의 중"이라면서 "영국관에 가입하면 오만의 물 시장에 대한 이해를 높이고 석유 및 가스, 석유화학 분야와의 유익한 관계를 맺게 되었다"고 말했다.
SPE Energy의 존 스키퍼(John Skipper) 이사는 "올해 영국의 Water and Intec Export Intelligence에 감사의 말을 전한다. 나는 올해 오만 전시회에서 엄청난 지원을 받았다. 대리점을 통해 SPE Energy는 오만 국립 엔지니어링 & 투자 회사 (ONEIC)와 협력하여 바쁜 시장에 직접 접근 할 수 있게 되었다. 나는 앞으로도 비슷한 거래 기회를 가질 것이다"라고 말했다.

영국의 10개 회사는 참석자를 지원하고 오만의 수상 산업과 긴밀한 관계를 구축하기 위해 영국 국제 무역부 (DIT)로부터 보조금을 확보했다. DIT에 따르면, 오만은 향후 10년 동안 인프라에 대규모 투자가 필요하며 정부 자금과 함께 민간 투자를 유치하기를 열망하고 있다.

UK Companies Explore Water Opportunities In Oman
A delegation of 10 UK companies that attended the Oman Energy & Water Conference have heralded the event a success. The trade visit, which took place in Muscat in April, was organised by Intec Export Intelligence and British Water and participants were eligible for grants from the UK Government Department of International Trade (DIT).
Oman is expanding and upgrading the country’s water and wastewater infrastructure with projected capital expenditure of US$6.5B on clean water between 2015-2040 and US$15.58B on wastewater from 2018 to 2045. Demand for water is being driven by population growth and tourism and is expected to rise at the rate of 7% per annum through to 2021.
The National Water Sector Master Plan includes expansion of the water grid with new networks serving greenfield areas along with renewal of legacy infrastructure. Along with a number of desalination projects, a resource restructuring programme could see advanced wastewater treatment being used to provide supplementary water supplies along with higher sanitation coverage
The Wastewater Masterplan seeks public-private partnerships for building plants and is banking on revenues streams from the sale of treated water and fertilisers. By 2020 the government aims to connect 80% of Muscat residents to the sewerage network, up from the current 30 per cent.

Karolina Peret, International Manager, at British Water said: “British Water members are finding that Oman is a great place to explore opportunities and the substantial investment going into water and wastewater infrastructure presents significant opportunities for a wide range of companies. Oman is keen to learn from global expertise and equipment for wastewater treatment and reuse, desalination, irrigation, water quality and metering which are all in demand.”
Guy Rogers of Intec Export Intelligence said, “Oman is the fastest growing export market for UK products and provides many opportunities for British companies in the water sector. Participants at this year’s UK Pavilion reported exceptional interest in their products and services and business leads from the event are already turning into valuable contracts.
“Oman is a wealthy, secure country and puts great value on its relationship with the UK. We look forward to building on this success in future years and hope even more companies from British Water join us for the upcoming event in Vietnam.”

Ten companies secured grants from the UK Department for International Trade (DIT) to support their attendance and build closer links with the water industry in Oman. According to DIT, Oman needs majorinvestment in infrastructure over the next ten years and is keen to attract private investment alongside government funds.
