[미국] MFG케미칼, 달톤 파일럿 플랜트 업그레이드
화학제조 분야의 글로벌 기업인 MFG Chemical은 미국 조지아 달톤(Dalton)에 있는 파일럿 플랜트의 업그레이드를 완료했다.
MFG는 100갤런의 스테인리스 스틸 반응기를 업그레이드하여 화씨 550도(약 288℃)까지 뜨거운 오일 및 증기 반응을 일으켰다. 파일럿에는 내부 냉각 코일, 2 개의 상단 공급 포트가 있다.
하나의 하부(딥 튜브) 공급 포트, 팩 컬럼 응축기, 환류 컬럼, 표준 튜브 응축기, 작은 증류 컬럼 및 8토르(Torr)의 진공 성능이다.
100갤런 반응기는 이제 새로운 단열재로 바닥에서 12인치 떨어진 메자닌(mezzanine)에 설치된다. 전체 파일럿 플랜트의 압력 세척 및 일반 업그레이드도 있었다.
MFG의 최고 과학기술 책임자(Chief Science and Technology Officer)인 가이도 데스테파노(Guido DeStefano)는 "전체 스케일업 전에 평가 및 사용을 위해 필요한 특수 화학물질의 드럼 크기 1과 2를 생산하기 때문에 고객에게 인기가 있다. 또한 공정을 최적화하고 안전성을 향상시키기 위해 내부 연구에도 사용된다”고 말했다.
MFG의 CEO인 케이스 아놀드(Keith Arnold)는 "고객의 요구가 계속 증가함에 따라 두 번째 100갤런 파일럿 원자로를 추가할 계획이다”라고 말했다.

MFG Chemical Upgrades Pilot Plant In Dalton, GA
MFG Chemical, a global leader in specialty and custom chemical manufacturing has completed an upgrade of its pilot plant in Dalton, Georgia.
MFG has upgraded a 100 gallon stainless steel reactor, which produces hot oil and steam reactions up to 550 degrees Fahrenheit.
The pilot has internal cooling coils, two top feed ports; one bottom (dip tube) feed port, a pack column condenser, a reflux column, standard tube condenser, a small distillation column and a vacuum capability at 8 Torr.
The 100 gallon reactor now sits on a mezzanine 12 inches off the floor, with new insulation. There has also been a pressure cleaning and general upgrading of the entire pilot plant.
According to MFG’s Chief Science and Technology Officer, Guido DeStefano, “This 100 gallon pilot plant reactor is worth its weight in gold. It is popular with customers because it produces one and two drum sized quantities of the needed specialty chemicals for evaluation and use prior to total scale up. It is also used for internal studies to optimize process and improve safety.“
CEO Keith Arnold added, “This is a very useful pilot plant, because it meets our customers’ small quantity needs, without tying up an entire manufacturing plant. We will plan to add a second 100 gallon pilot reactor as customer needs continue to grow.”
