[이집트] 수에즈, 이집트 Gabal El Asfar 하수처리장 수주
수에즈(SUEZ)와 파트너인 아랍 컨트랙터(Arab Contractors)는 이집트 카이로에 있는 가발 엘 아스파르(Gabal El Asfar) 하수처리장의 운영 및 유지보수 계약을 4년 동안 수주했으며, 총 금액은 4천만 유로로 이중 2천800만 유로가 SUEZ에 귀속된다.
하루 100만㎥의 용량을 가진 이 시설의 두 처리 라인은 이집트 카이로시의 500만 주민을 위해 하수를 처리한다. 계약은 2021년 3월 1일부터 시행된다.
카이로는 수년 동안 인구가 역사적으로 증가했으며, 현재 인구는 2천200만 명이다. 하수처리 측면에서 증가하는 도시 집적화의 요구를 충족시키기 위해 카이로의 가발 엘 아스파르(Gabal El Asfar) 처리장은 건설 이후 두 번의 확장을 거쳐 아프리카에서 가장 큰 하수처리장이 되었다.
2005년에 시작된 라인 중 하나의 건설 및 운영에 따른 이 새로운 계약을 통해 그룹의 이집트 팀에서 전문지식을 계속 이전하는 것을 가능하게 한다.
이 계약에는 하루 총 용량이 50만㎥인 두 처리 라인의 운영 및 유지보수는 물론 플랜트의 감독 및 발전 시스템 재건이 포함된다.
SUEZ는 또한 슬러지 처리로 생성된 바이오가스에서 전기를 생산하여 발전소가 에너지 자급률을 55%에서 65% 이상으로 높일 수 있도록 최적화 작업을 수행할 예정이다. 생산된 전기는 연간 2만8천 톤의 탄소 등가 배출을 방지하여 시설의 탄소 발자국 감소에 기여할 예정이다.
수에즈 그룹(SUEZ Group)의 아시아 태평양(APAC) 및 아메리카(AMECA) 지역 & 산업 키 어카운트(Industrial Key Accounts) 수석부사장인 아나 지로스(Ana Giros)는 "70년 이상 현지에서의 역사적 존재와 수처리 서비스에 대한 직원들의 전문지식을 결합함으로써 우리는 이집트에서 그룹의 현지 관계를 강화하는 이 상징적인 계약을 수주할 수 있었다"라고 말했다.

SUEZ wins contract for the Gabal El Asfar wastewater treatment plant in Egypt
SUEZ and its partner, Arab Contractors, win the operation and maintenance contract for the Gabal El Asfar wastewater treatment plant in Cairo, for four years and an overall amount of €40 million, of which €28 million will be attributed to SUEZ.
With a capacity of 1 million m³ per day, the two treatment lines of the facility will treat wastewater for almost 5 million inhabitants of the city of Cairo, Egypt. The contract will come into effect as of March 1st, 2021.
Greater Cairo has seen a historic growth in population for several years, and currently has a population of 22 million inhabitants. To meet the growing needs of the urban agglomeration in terms of wastewater treatment, the Gabal El Asfar plant in Cairo has undergone two extensions since its construction to become the largest wastewater treatment plant in Africa.
This new contract, which follows the construction and operation of one of the lines starting in 2005, enables to continue the transfer of expertise from the Group’s Egyptian teams.
The contract includes the operation and maintenance of both treatment lines with total capacity of 500,000 m³ per day each, as well as the rehabilitation of the plant’s supervision and power generation systems.
SUEZ will also carry out optimization works to enable the plant to increase its energy self-sufficiency from 55% to more than 65% with the production of electricity from the biogas generated by the treatment of sludge.
The electricity produced will avoid the emission of 28,000 tons of carbon equivalent per year, thereby contributing to the reduction of the facility’s carbon footprint.
