[미국] 오비보, 셈브레인 ‘SiC 멤브레인’ 제조시설 건설 투자
상하수도 처리 장비, 기술 및 시스템을 공급하는 글로벌 기업 오비보(Ovivo Inc.)가 최근 그룹 일원이 된 셈브레인(Cembrane)사의 ‘SiC 멤브레인’을 제조할 최첨단 시설 건설에 착수했다. 이 시설은 미국 텍사스주 휴토(Hutto)시 혁신 비즈니스 단지에 들어선다.
오비보는 지난 11월 18일 셈브레인사의 고유 특허 기술 ‘탄화규소(SiC) 멤브레인’을 생산할 최첨단 시설을 건설하기 위해 2천500만 달러 이상의 투자를 진행한다고 밝혔다. 앞서 셈브레인은 11월 1일 SiC 멤브레인 기술의 성장을 촉진하기 위해 오비보 그룹에 합류했다. 셈브레인과 수년 동안 협업해온 오비보는 셈브레인의 ‘SiC 멤브레인’을 미래 유망 멤브레인 기술로 지정하고 시장에서의 입지를 강화할 계획이다.
셈브레인 SiC 멤브레인에 대한 증가하는 수요를 충족하기 위해 오비보는 미국 텍사스주 휴토( Hutto)시의 혁신 비즈니스 단지(Innovation Business Park)에 11만 평방피트의 제조 시설을 건설하고 운영할 예정이다. 시설은 2023년 초까지 완전 가동될 예정이며 최대 용량에 도달하면 약 100개의 일자리를 창출할 것으로 예상된다.
오비보의 사장 겸 CEO인 마크 바르보(Marc Barbeau)는 “북미의 상하수도 처리 응용 분야에 사용되는 ‘SiC 멤브레인’을 생산하기 위해 텍사스에 제조시설을 건설하는 전략적 투자를 진행하게 되어 매우 기쁘다”면서 “오비보의 사명은 전문성과 혁신을 통해 고객에게 지속 가능하고 효율적인 수처리 솔루션을 제공하는 것이다. 셈브레인의 ‘SiC 멤브레인’이 내구성, 최고의 성능 및 지속가능성을 필요로 하는 고객에게 가치를 더할 혁신적인 기술이라고 판단했다”고 말했다.

Ovivo Invests to Build a State-of-the-Art Facility in Texas to Manufacture Cembrane Silicon Carbide Membranes
Ovivo Inc. (“Ovivo”), a global provider of water and wastewater treatment equipment, technology and systems, is pleased to announce a major investment of more than 25 million US dollars for the construction of a state-of-the-art facility that will produce Cembrane’s unique patented Silicon Carbide (“SiC”) flat sheet membranes in the United States.
As announced on November 1st, 2021, Cembrane has officially joined the Ovivo group to propel the growth of its SiC membrane technology as part of a resourceful and global water treatment organization. After collaborating with Cembrane for several years, Ovivo has designated the Cembrane SiC membranes as its preferred membrane technology in the future. The integration of Cembrane will enhance growth in Ovivo’s existing markets and create opportunities with new solutions for a wide variety of applications in drinking water and wastewater, within both the municipal and industrial markets.
In order to support the growth in demand for Cembrane SiC membranes, Ovivo will build and operate an 110,000 square-foot manufacturing facility located in the Innovation Business Park of the city of Hutto in Texas, USA. The facility is expected to be fully operational by early 2023 and should create nearly 100 new jobs when at full capacity.
Concurrently with this major investment in the United States, Ovivo is also investing to build additional manufacturing capacity at Cembrane’s facility in Lynge, Denmark.
