[말레이시아] 새로운 담수 공장 개발에 PPP 방식 도입

말레이시아의 조호르(Johor) 주가 자국 내 최대 규모일 것으로 예상되는 담수 공장을 개발하는 데 PPP(민·관 협력 파트너십, public-private partnership) 방식을 도입키로 결정했다. 

조호르 주는 최근 2060년까지의 수자원 관련 연구를 완료했으며, 계획에 대한 연방 정부의 승인을 기다리고 있다고 Mohamed Khaled Nordin 주지사가 밝혔다. 또한 조호르 주는 빗물 확보와 지하수 활용 방안에 대한 선택권을 탐색하고 있으며, 급수 조절기는 2017년까지 네 개의 관우물을 갖춰 메르싱(Mersing)과 코타팅기(Kota Tinggi) 지역에 설치될 계획이다. 

담수 공장 설치로 제기된 부지는 조호르 주 포레스트 시티(Forest City)이며, 둑길을 통해 말레이시아 남부지역의 주가 싱가포르와 연결된다. 

조호르 주는 말레이시아 내 급속히 성장하고 있는 주들 중 하나로, 지난 2011년부터 2014년까지 3년간 국내총생산(GDP) 성장률이 매해 평균 6.1%를 기록했다. 이는 5.4%라는 말레이시아 국가 전체의 평균 성장률을 웃도는 수치다.

 Malaysia looks to PPP to develop new desalination 

Johor state, Malaysia, has made public its ambitions to form a public-private partnership to develop what could become the country's largest desalination plant, thesundaily.my reports.

Johor has completed a study of water resources to 2060, and is awaiting federal government approval for its plans, said state chief minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin. Johor will also explore options for rainwater harvesting and ground water use, and the water regulator plans to construct four tube wells in 2017, in the districts of Mersing and Kota Tinggi.

The proposed site for the desalination plant is in Forest City, Johor. The state, in southern Malaysia, is connected to Singapore by causeways.

Johor is one of the fastest growing states in Malaysia, generating gross domestic product growth of 6.1 percent on average in each of the years from 2011 to 2014, higher than Malaysia's national average of 5.4 percent.
