[미국] 캠비, 워싱턴DC 5개 하수처리장 '바이오에너지 프로젝트' 수행
DC워터(DC Water)와의 첫 미국 프로젝트의 성공을 기반으로 캠비(Camb)는 워싱턴 교외 위생위원회(WSSC)의 '피스카타웨이 바이오에너지 프로젝트(Piscataway Bioenergy Project)'에 열수분해 시설에 납품하는 새로운 계약을 체결했다.
새로운 시설은 DC워터(DC Water) 현장에서 남쪽으로 20km 떨어진 곳에 위치하며, 몽고메리(Montgomery)의 5개 하수처리장과 메릴랜드주의 프린스 조지(Prince George) 카운티에서 나오는 오수슬러지를 처리한다.
'피스카타웨이 바이오에너지 프로젝트(Piscataway Bioenergy Project)'는 워싱턴 교외 위생위원회(WSSC)C의 가장 크고 기술적으로 가장 발전된 시설이 된다. 바이오 에너지 프로젝트는 2024년에 완료되면 WSSC의 바이오솔리드(biosolid) 취급 방식을 변화시켜 부피를 크게 줄이고 WSSC가 바이오 솔리드들을 예외적인 품질(EQ) A등급 비료로 판매할 수 있게 된다.
폐기 비용 감소와 바이오가스 생산으로 인한 수입 증가는 WSSC와 그 요금 납부자들이 연간 300만 달러 이상의 운영비를 절감할 수 있을 것으로 예상하고 있다.
이 프로젝트는 또한 WSSC의 온실가스 배출량을 15% 줄일 수 있다. 이는 교통체증으로부터 약 5천대의 자동차를 제거하는 것과 맞먹는다.
CambiTHP는 현재 PC건설(PC Construction), 스탄텍(Stantec), 하젠(Hazen)의 누진설계 빌드팀(progressive-design build team)이 제공하는 프로젝트의 핵심기술로 WSSC에 의해 사전 선정되었다.

Cambi Will Deliver A Second Project In The Washington DC Area
Building on the success of its first American project with DC Water, Cambi has signed a new contract to deliver a thermal hydrolysis plant to the Washington Suburban Sanitation Commission’s (WSSC) Piscataway Bioenergy Project.
The new plant will be located 20 km south of the DC Water site and treat sewage sludge from five wastewater treatment plants in the Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland.
The Piscataway Bioenergy Project will become WSSC’s largest and most technically advanced plant yet. Once complete in 2024, the Bioenergy Project will transform WSSC’s biosolids handling, significantly reducing the volume and enabling WSSC to sell the biosolids as exceptional quality (EQ) Class A fertiliser.
Reduced disposal costs and increased income from biogas production will save WSSC and its rate payers more than US$ 3 million in annual operating costs
. The project will also reduce WSSC’s greenhouse gas emissions by 15%, equivalent to removing about 5,000 cars from traffic.
CambiTHP was pre-selected by WSSC as a critical technology for the project now delivered by the progressive-design build team of PC Construction, Stantec and Hazen.
