[요르단] 암만에 하수관로 건설 착수
요르단 수도청(Water Authority of Jordan)은 암만(Amman) 지역의 압력을 완화하고 관개용 물을 공급하기 위해 하수관로(wastewater pipeline)를 건설하기 시작했다.
이 사업은 유럽부흥개발은행(EBRD ; European Bank for Reconstruction and Development), 글로벌양도금융시설(GCFF ; Global Concessional Financing Facility), 영국 대외연방개발청(FCDO ; Foreign and Commonwealth and Development Office) 등이 지원한다.
하수관로 건설은 요르단 수도청이 2천250만 유로(2천727만 달러)의 EBRD(유럽부흥개발은행) 대출과 FCDO(영국 대외연방개발청)로부터 1천400만 유로(1천920만 달러), EBRD의 460만 유로(560만 달러), 주주특별기금 및 GCFF(글로벌양도금융시설)로부터 200만 달러의 보조금으로 지원된다.
이 하수관로는 암만에 있는 아인 가잘(Ain Ghazal) 전처리 플랜트와 요르단 북부에 있는 아스-삼라(As-Samra) 하수처리장을 연결해 암만(Amman)과 자르카(Zarqa) 주민에게 서비스를 제공할 예정이다.
또한 하수관로 건설은 처리되지 않은 하수 범람을 줄이고, 아인 가잘(Ain Ghazal) 처리장 주변 환경오염과 지표수 오염 위험도 줄일 예정이다.
EBRD(유럽부흥개발은행) 지역 책임자인 필립터 워트(Philipter Wort)는 "이번 요르단 수도청과의 파트너십은 GCFF와 FCDO의 지원을 받아 현지 도시부문을 발전시키고 하수 및 폐수처리 인프라의 품질 개선에 도움을 주어 더 나은 서비스를 제공하는 데 기여할 것이다"라고 말했다.
EBRD는 2012년부터 54개 프로젝트에 14억 유로(12억 달러) 이상의 자금을 지원했다.

Jordon commences construction of wastewater pipeline
The Water Authority of Jordan has commenced construction of a wastewater pipeline to ease pressure in Amman and to help provide water for irrigation in the country.
This project is supported by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Global Concessional Financing Facility (GCFF) and the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
The construction of the pipeline is funded by an EBRD loan of €22.5m ($27.27m) to the Water Authority of Jordan and supported by grants of ￡14m ($19.2m) from the FCDO, €4.6m ($5.6m) from the EBRD Shareholder Special Fund and $2m from the GCFF.
The pipeline will connect the Ain Ghazal pre-treatment plant in Amman with the As-Samra wastewater plant in the north of Jordan, thereby serving people of Amman and Zarqa. Furthermore, construction of the facility will reduce untreated sewage overflows.
It will also reduce the risks of environmental contamination and pollution of surface water in the area around the Ain Ghazal treatment plant.
EBRD regional head Philip ter Woort said: “This partnership with the Water Authority of Jordan, with the support of GCFF and FCDO, will help develop the municipal sector in the country and assist in improving the quality of sewage- and wastewater-treatment infrastructure, contributing to the delivery of better services.”
Since 2012, EBRD has provided financing worth more than €1.4bn ($1.2bn) to 54 projects.
