[UAE] DEWA, 물절약 알리기 위한 핸드북 발행
아랍에미레이트(UAE) 연방국인 두바이의 DEWA(두바이 전기수자원부, Dubai Electricity & Water Authority)는 두바이 주거, 상업, 산업 및 정부 고객에게 전기 및 물 사용량을 줄이기 위한 기술과 시스템을 알리기 위해 『전기 및 물절약 방안 핸드북(Handbook of Electricity and Water Conservation Measures)』을 발행했다.
이번 핸드북 발간은 DEWA가 지속가능성을 높이고 고객과 사회구성원들이 전기와 물을 현명하게 사용하여 환경보호와 천연자원 보존에 기여하도록 하기 위한 노력의 일환이다.
핸드북의 디지털 사본(digital copy)은 DEWA 웹사이트 www.dewa.gov.ae의 '지속가능성' 섹션에서 볼 수 있다.
DEWA의 사이드 모하메드 알 테이어(Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer) 대표이사(MD) 겸 CE는 “지속가능성은 항상 UAE(아랍에미레이트) 문화의 필수적인 부분이었고, 두바이는 탄소 발자국을 줄이는 데 기여하는 이니셔티브 구현의 선구자이다"라고 말했다.
사이드 모하메드 알 테이어(Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer) 대표이사는 이어 "DEWA는 청정 및 재생에너지의 비율을 높이고 에너지와 물의 현명한 사용을 장려하는 여러 프로그램을 시작하여 환경을 보호하는 데 중추적인 역할을 할 것이다"라면서 "이는 2030년까지 전기 및 물 수요를 30%까지 줄이기 위한 두바이 수요관리 전략을 지원할 것이다”라고 강조했다.
알 테이어 대표이사는 또 “우리는 환경을 보호하기 위한 노력에 모든 사회 구성원을 참여시키고자 한다. DEWA의 연중 지속가능한 환경 보호 프로그램에는 소비자가 지속 가능한 라이프스타일을 채택하도록 장려하는 많은 혁신적인 이니셔티브가 포함된다"라면서 우리는 이 핸드북이 긍정적인 변화를 만들고 자연자원을 보호하고 다음 세대를 위한 지속가능성을 보장하기 위해 보존을 장려하기를 바란다”라고 덧붙였다.
『전기 및 물절약 방안 핸드북(Handbook of Electricity and Water Conservation Measures)』은 다양한 유형의 건물에 대한 전기 및 물 소비를 절약하기 위한 많은 현대 기술을 강조했다.
여기에는 두 가지 유형의 조치가 포함된다. 기존 장비를 추가 또는 교체하고 건물의 효율성을 높이고 개선하기 위한 조치를 제어한다. 여기에는 공조 및 냉각 시스템, 조명 시스템, 절수 설비 및 장비 작동을 개선하기 위한 건물 제어 시스템이 포함된다.
핸드북은 또한 보전 조치를 시행한 결과 예상되는 절감액을 제시했다. 또한 고객이 건물의 전기 및 물을 절약하기 위한 추가 기술에 대해 배울 수 있는 유용한 링크와 추가 팁이 포함되어 있다.

Dubai's DEWA issues Handbook of Electricity and Water Conservation Measures
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has issued the Handbook of Electricity and Water Conservation Measures, to inform residential, commercial, industrial, and governmental customers about technologies and systems to reduce their usage of electricity and water.
This is part of DEWA’s efforts to enhance sustainability and engage customers and society members to use electricity and water sensibly to contribute in protecting the environment and preserving natural resources.
A digital copy of the handbook is available under the ‘Sustainability’ section on DEWA’s website www.dewa.gov.ae
“Sustainability has always been an integral part of our culture in the UAE and Dubai has been a pioneer in the implementation of initiatives that contribute to reducing our carbon footprint."

We hope this handbook will make a positive change and encourage conservation to protect natural resources and ensure their sustainability for generations to come,” added Al Tayer.
The Handbook of Electricity and Water Conservation Measures highlights many modern technologies to conserve electricity and water consumption for various types of buildings.
It covers two types of measures: Adding or replacing existing equipment and control measures to increase the efficiency of buildings and retrofitting them. These include air conditioning and cooling systems, lighting systems, water-saving fixtures, as well as building control systems to improve the operation of equipment.
The Handbook also presents expected savings as a result of implementing conservation measures. It also includes useful links and additional tips for customers to learn about further technologies to conserve electricity and water in their buildings.
