미국과 캐나다 수처리 유틸리티 솔루션 기업 E 소스(E Source)는 물손실 및 물관리 전문기업 WSO(Water Systems Optimization)를 지난 11월 2일 인수했다고 밝혔다.
E 소스는 미국과 캐나다 전역에 걸쳐 약 500개 이상의 전기, 가스, 수도 시설 및 지방 자치 단체와 파트너십을 통해 데이터 과학, 시장 조사, 벤치마킹 및 컨설팅 서비스를 제공하고 있다. E 소스는 이번 인수를 통해 각 국 수자원 기관과 협력을 통해 물 유틸리티 시장에서의 역량을 강화하고 각국 수자원 기관과 파트너십을 통해 지속가능한 미래를 만드는 능력을 강화할 것으로 보인다.
E 소스 CEO 테드 슐츠(Ted Schultz)는 “WSO의 전문성을 갖춘 물손실 분석과 컨설팅 부문에서 입증된 전문 지식을 통해 물시장 제품을 확장할 수 있었다”고 밝히며 “지금은 지속가능한 미래를 위해 물절약에 집중해야 하는 중요한 시기”라며 “물기업은 수자원 최적화 유틸리티를 위한 각 국 및 기관과 협력을 통해 지속가능한 미래를 구축하는 것이 현재로서의 임무”라고 말했다.

지난 2015년 10월 캘리포니아 주 상원은 모든 소매 도시 용수 공급자들이 유통 효율성에 대해 매년 보고하도록 하는 관련 법안을 통과시킴에 따라 WSO는 캘리포니아에서 500건 이상의 수질 감사 검증을 완료했으며 조지아와 하와이에서도 추가 검증을 완료했다.

In October 2015, the California State Senate passed a bill requiring all retail urban water suppliers to report annually on distribution efficiency. Since that time, WSO has completed more than 500 water audit validations in California, along with additional validations in Georgia and Hawaii.
