스페인의 글로벌 수처리기업인 테다구아(Tedagua)는 ‘제3회 중동·북아프리카 담수화 프로젝트 포럼(MENA Desalination Projects Forum)’에 참석, 공급된 식수로 인해 인구의 생활수준에 탁월한 영향을 미치는 혁신적인 솔루션과 담수화 프로젝트를 달성하는 비전과 성공적인 경험을 발표했다.

이 포럼은 MENA(Middle East & North Africa) 지역 내 담수화 산업의 발전 방향을 분석하는 아랍국가의 주요 공공기관과 지역 내 담수화 산업의 고유한 소통 플랫폼이자 2030년 물 의제에 의해 추진된 지속가능성의 비전을 구성하기 때문에 이 지역에서 가장 중요하다고 여겨진다.

‘제3회 MENA 담수화 프로젝트 포럼’은 3월 15일∼16일까지 아랍에미리트(UAE) 아부다비(Abu Dhabi)에서 개최되었으며, 이들 지역의 물 부족 문제에 어떻게 대처하고 증가하는 인구에 충분한 물을 공급해야 하는지에 대해 초점을 맞췄다. 또한 지속가능하고 환경 친화적인 물 담수화(water desalination)를 가능하게 할 수 있는 최신 솔루션을 모색했다.

테다구아는 물 분야에서의 38년간 경험을 포럼에 참가한 관계자들에게 제공하기 위해 이번 포럼에 적극적으로 참여했다. 이를 위해 루이스 미겔 아라우조(Luis Miguel Arauzo) 상업감독은 테다구아가 보여준 성공 스토리를 발표했으며, 이는 기술 개선의 적용과 환경 및 서비스 인구에 대한 이점을 모두 의미했다.

가장 큰 관심을 불러일으켰던 성공적인 프로젝트들 중, 스페인 라 팔마(La Palma)의 카나리아섬 라스 만차스 인근 쿰브레 비에자(Cumbre Vieja) 화산의 분화를 야기한 물 문제를 해결하기 위해 최근 라 팔마 섬에 이동식 담수화 플랜트를 설치한 것에 대해 언급할 가치가 있다.

관개용 담수화수를 하루 5천600㎥씩 공동으로 공급할 수 있는 2개의 플랜트 공급과 시운전은 주로 이 지역의 바나나 산업(banana industry)을 살렸다.

스펜스(Spence) 광산의 해수담수화 플랜트는 프레젠테이션에서 강조된 또 다른 참고자료 중 하나였다. 칠레 북부 고도 2천m에 위치한 광산으로 담수화수를 운반하기 위한 154kms 구동 시스템과 함께 하루 8만6천400㎥의 생산능력을 갖춘 기지로, 새로운 시추 공정으로 광산의 생산을 두 배로 늘리고 다른 화학 시약을 사용하지 않을 수 있게 되었다. 이 산업의 탄소 배출량을 줄일 수 있다.

발표에서 강조된 다른 프로젝트로는 알제리의 베니 사프 담수화 플랜트(Beni Saf desalination plant), 싱가포르의 투아스 III 해수담수화 플랜트(Tuas III plant)와 페루의 프로비수르 프로젝트(Provisur project)가 있으며, 이 모든 프로젝트는 지속가능한 방식으로 영향권 개발에 분명히 기여하고 있다.

Tedagua to present its experience in desalination at the MENA Desalination Projects Forum

- Luis Miguel Arauzo led a presentation where the success stories of Tedagua were shown, which have meant an added value both in the application of technological improvements, and in environmentally sustainable solutions for water desalination projects in the regions where they have been carried out.

- It was discussed how to meet the challenge of water scarcity, ensuring that sufficient water is supplied to a growing population and the need for desalination as a necessary contribution to sustainable development.
 

Tedagua has been present at the third edition of the MENA Desalination Projects Forum, in addition to having the opportunity to present its vision and successful experiences in achieving innovative solutions and desalination projects with an outstanding impact on the standard of living of the population supplied.

This forum is considered the most important in the region, as it constitutes a unique communication platform between the leaders of the sector and the main public bodies of the Arab countries, where the way forward for the desalination industry in the region is analyzed, and the visions of sustainability driven by the water agendas for the year 2030.

The third edition of the forum was held in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) between 15 and 16 March, and focused on how to address the challenge of water scarcity in these regions, and ensuring that sufficient water is supplied to a growing population. In addition, the latest solutions that can allow sustainable and environmentally friendly water desalination were explored.

Tedagua wanted to contribute its experience of 38 years in the world of water by actively participating in the forum. To that end, the commercial director, Luis Miguel Arauzo, led a presentation where some success stories that Tedagua has were shown, which have meant an added value both in the application of technological improvements, and in their benefits on the environment and on the population served.

Among the successful projects that aroused the most interest, it is worth mentioning the recent installation of portable plants on the island of La Palma to address the water problem that had generated the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano. 

The supply and commissioning, in record time, of two plants capable of jointly supplying 5,600 m3/day of desalinated water for irrigation, was mainly the salvation of the banana industry in the area.

The seawater desalination plant for the Spence mine was another of the references highlighted during the presentation. It is a station with a production capacity of 86,400 m3 / day together with a 154 kms drive system to bring the desalinated water to the mine located at an altitude of 2,000 m in the north of Chile, whose success is that it will allow doubling the production of the mine with a new drilling process, avoiding the use of other chemical reagents and thus reducing the carbon footprint of this industry.

Other projects highlighted in the presentation were the Beni Saf desalination plants in Algeria, the Tuas III plant in Singapore or the Provisur project in Peru, all of which have clearly contributed to the development of their areas of influence in a sustainable way.
