사우디아라비아의 국립수자원회사(NWC, National Water Company)는 사우디아라비아의 주요 송수관의 누수 및 물 손실 문제를 해결하는 데 도움을 줄 파트너를 찾고 있다.

사우디 전역에 식수와 하수 서비스를 공급하는 책임을 맡고 있는 NWC는 11월 24일  기업들에게 직경 300mm가 넘는 송수관이 포함된 모든 수도관에 대해 누수감지 작업을 수행할 것을 요청했다.

2016년에 시작된 사우디아라비아의 ‘국가 변혁 프로그램(National Transformation Program)’에서는 국가의 물 손실 수준이 25%라고 주장했는데, 이는 2020년까지 이 수치를 15%로 줄이는 것이 목표였다. 그러나 실제로는 그 수치가 훨씬 더 높은 것으로 여겨진다.

2021년 NWC는 비수익 물관리 문제를 해결하기 위해 수에즈와 440만 유로(약 62억3천600만 원)의 2년 컨설팅 계약을 체결했다. NWC의 새로운 3개년 물손실 관리 프로젝트 제출 마감일은 12월 3일로 정해졌다.

Saudi utility looks for team to tackle water losses

Saudi Arabia’s National Water Company has issued a call for partners to help it tackle leaks and water losses in the Kingdom’s main water distribution pipelines.

The group, which is responsible for supplying potable water and wastewater services to the entire country, issued a call today for companies to carry out leak detection work on all transmission lines containing pipes with a diameter of more than 300mm.

Saudi Arabia’s National Transformation Program, initiated in 2016, claimed that national water loss levels stood at 25% ? a figure it aimed to see reduced to 15% by 2020. In reality, however, the figure is believed to be significantly higher. 

In 2021, the NWC awarded a €4.4 million, two-year consultancy contract to Suez to tackle non-revenue water management.

The submissions deadline for the NWC’s new three-year water loss management project has been set at 3rd December.
