아부다비 투자청(ADIO)은 지난 12월 7일 매사추세프 공과대학교(MIT)가 설립한 상하수 솔루션 유니콘 기업인 그래디언트(Gradiant)가 새로운 EMEA(영국, 러시아, 터키, 독일, 프랑스, 스페인) 본사와 글로벌 이노베이션 센터를 UAE의 수도인 아부다비에 건설한다고 밝혔다.

ADIO와 그래디언트는 UN 기후변화 회의인 COP28 기간 동안 협력 계약을 체결했으며, 글로벌 기후변화 솔루션 개발과 상용화를 주도하고 있는 아부다비의 이노베이터 허브(hub of innovators)에 합류하게 됐다.

ADIO는 아부다비의 경제 성장을 위해 에미레이트의 장기적인 비전에 맞춰 고성장 경제 부문의 혁신 기업을 유치하고 있다. 10억 달러 가치로 평가되는 기업인 그래디언트와의 협력을 통해 아부다비는 급성장하는 시장의 선두에 서게 됐다. 2030년까지 세계 상하수도 처리 시장의 가치는 1조1천억 달러에 이를 것으로 예상된다.

그래디언트는 상하수 시설을 위한 공정 및 디지털 솔루션을 제공하며, 현재 다양한 기술 분야를 포괄하는 약 250개의 특허를 보유하고 있다. 또한 세계에서 가장 중요한 물문제에 대한 엔드 투 엔드 솔루션을 위해 AI 기술을 갖춘 업계 최고의 기술 스택을 결합한다. 기계 학습과 AI를 활용해 처리 시스템의 성능 최적화와 자산 관리를 위한 스마트옵스(SmartOps)라는 제품을 개발했다.

The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) today announced that Gradiant, an MIT-founded water and wastewater solutions unicorn, has decided on the UAE capital for the home of its new EMEA HQ and global innovation centre. ADIO and Gradiant signed the cooperation agreement during COP28, the United Nations’ Climate Change Conference, with the company joining Abu Dhabi’s thriving hub of innovators spearheading the development and commercialisation of global climate change solutions.

ADIO supports the growth of Abu Dhabi’s economy by attracting innovative companies in high-growth economic sectors aligned with the Emirate’s long-term vision. Its collaboration with Gradiant, which has a valuation of $1 bn, positions Abu Dhabi at the forefront of a rapidly growing industry. The value of the global water and wastewater treatment market is expected to reach $1.1 tn by 2030.

ADIO is contributing to the development of sustainable energy solutions in Abu Dhabi, including a collaboration with Siemens Energy AG to establish its Middle East Customer Innovation Centre in the Emirate. The centre is one of four global centres that will accelerate the commercialisation of innovative solutions in the journey to net zero in the UAE and globally.
