서번트렌트(Severn Trent)는 더웬트 밸리 수도교(Derwent Valley Aqueduct, DVA)에서 2천200만 파운드 규모의 회복탄력성 프로젝트를 통해 더비셔(Derbyshire) 전역 수천 가구와 기업에 미래 물 공급을 확보하고 있다고 밝혔다.

서번트렌트는 이 프로젝트를 통해 더웬트 밸리를 가로질러 수천 가구에 물을 공급하는 빅토리아 양식의 수도교를 지원하기 위해 주변 주요 관로의 능력을 강화하고 개선한다.

서번트렌트는 1월 8일(현지시각) 베슬로(Baslow)의 A619 도로를 따라 600m의 새로운 수도관을 설치하는 초기 50만 파운드 규모의 1단계 작업에 착수했다.

크리스티나 매시(Chrstina Massey) 서번트렌트 지역사회 소통 책임자는 "더웬트 밸리 수도교 프로젝트는 수도교에 문제가 발생할 경우 수천 가구와 기업에 지속적인 물공급을 보장할 정말 중요한 투자"라면서 "서번트렌트의의 최우선 과제는 고객이 필요할 때마다 깨끗하고 안전한 식수에 접근할 수 있도록 하는 것이며, 이와 같은 개선은 서번트렌트가 이러한 약속을 이행하는 데 매우 중요하다"고 말했다.

첫 번째 계획은 3단계로 나뉘어 진행되며 전체 프로젝트는 2024년 6월까지 완료될 것으로 예상된다.

Severn Trent set to deliver the first part of its Derwent Valley Aqueduct Resilience Project 

Severn Trent is securing future water supply for thousands of homes and businesses across Derbyshire through a series of resilience projects totalling £22 million on the Derwent Valley Aqueduct (DVA).

These projects will support the Victorian aqueduct, which provides water to thousands of homes across the Derwent Valley, by enhancing and upgrading key parts of the surrounding network.  

Work on the initial £500,000 phase, which will see 600m of new water pipes laid along the A619 in Baslow between the Devonshire Arms and Bar Brook crossing, is due to begin on 8th January.    

Chrstina Massey, Community Communications Officer at Severn Trent, said: “The DVA resilience project is a really important piece of investment that will ensure a continued supply of water for thousands of homes and businesses in case of any issues with the aqueduct itself. Our priority is to ensure that our customers have access to clean, safe drinking water whenever they need it and upgrades such as this are crucial in making sure we meet this commitment.”  

The first scheme will be delivered in three phases with the full project expected to be completed by June 2024. Some traffic management will be in place during the works.  

Christina continued: “We absolutely understand how frustrating roadworks can be, but the use of temporary traffic lights will keep people safe and allow us to deliver the work quickly. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and apologise in advance for any disruption while we make this important upgrade.”
